AutiPocket respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it and your rights.
Who we are
AutiPocket is a wellbeing and support app designed to support autistic people and people who experience anxiety or overwhelm.
For data protection purposes, AutiPocket is the “data controller” of your personal data.
What data we collect
We only collect data that is necessary to provide and improve the app.
Information you provide:
Username
Email address
Date of birth
Password (stored securely and encrypted)
Information you choose to share in chats or within the app
Information collected automatically:
App usage data (e.g., which features are used)
Device and technical information (e.g., operating system, app version)
Log and error data to keep the app running safely
Why we collect your data
We use your data to:
Create and manage your account
Provide access to appropriate app features based on age
Deliver wellbeing content, games and videos
Provide helper support (where applicable)
Maintain safety and safeguarding
Improve the app and user experience
Communicate important updates or service messages
We may send service-related emails to notify you about activity on your account, including responses from AutiPocket helpers, support updates, or important information about your use of the platform
Generate anonymised, aggregated insights and trends to improve the app, support research partnerships and communicate overall impact.
We do not sell your data to third parties.
Helper chats and confidentiality
If you use the helper chat features:
Conversations are treated as confidential
Chat data is used only to support you, ensure safety and contribute to anonymised, aggregated insights.
Conversations may be reviewed internally for training, quality, or safeguarding purposes
Conversations will be stored for 12 months from initiating a chat
We will never share helper chat content with:
Employers
Sponsors
Family members
Other users
Unless:
You give explicit consent
There is a serious safeguarding concern where disclosure is legally required
Safeguarding and legal obligations
In rare situations, we may need to use or share data to:
Protect you or others from serious harm
Comply with legal obligations
Respond to lawful requests from authorities
We aim to do this carefully, proportionately, and with your wellbeing in mind.
Age-related data
We collect date of birth to:
Ensure age-appropriate access to features
Restrict certain features (such as helper chat and community features) to users aged 18 and over
We do not knowingly collect unnecessary data from children.
Payments and purchase
If you make in-app purchases:
Payments are processed securely by third-party providers (e.g., app stores)
AutiPocket does not store full payment card details
Payment providers have their own privacy policies which apply to payment data.
Data sharing
We may share limited data with trusted service providers who help us operate the app, such as hosting or analytics providers.
These providers:
Only process data on our instructions
Are required to keep your data secure
Are not allowed to use your data for their own purposes
Aggregated data, insights and research
AutiPocket may analyse anonymised and aggregated data to understand overall usage patterns, trends and common themes within the app, including the helper chat.
This may include analysis such as:
The percentage of tickets relating to particular support themes
Periods of times, days and months when the app is most used
General feature usage patterns
Overall wellbeing trends across users
This information may be used to:
Improve AutiPocket’s services and features
Inform the development of new tools and resources
Share general impact statistics publicly (for example on social media or in impact reports)
Contribute to research partnerships focused on improving neurodivergent wellbeing
When we share insights publicly or with research partners:
Data is always aggregated and anonymised
Individual chat content is never shared
Names, email addresses and identifiable information are never shared
No data that could reasonably identify a user is disclosed
AutiPocket remains directly involved in the analysis and use of the data
We do not sell personal data to third parties
Research partnerships are conducted solely for the purpose of improving support for autistic and neurodivergent people.
Data storage and security
We take data security seriously and use:

No system is completely risk-free, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
How long we keep your data
We keep your data:
For as long as your account is active
Or as required to meet legal or safeguarding obligations
You can request deletion of your account at any time.

Cookies and tracking
AutiPocket may use limited analytics tools to understand how the app is used. These are used to improve functionality.
Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time.
If changes are significant, we will:
Update the policy on our website
Notify users within the app where appropriate
Use of AutiPocket via an Employee Assistance Programme
Some users may have access to AutiPocket through an Employee Assistance Programme (EAP).
Employee confidentiality:
Employers do not have access to individual employee accounts
Employers do not see helper chats, messages, or personal content
Employers do not receive identifiable information about how individual employees use AutiPocket
Your employer cannot see who has used the app, what you have discussed, or any personal or health related information
Reporting to employers
Where AutiPocket provides reports to employers, these are aggregated, anonymised and non-identifiable. This includes using techniques such as brackets of user uptake to remove the ability to identify. Reports may include overall usage levels, types of support accessed (in broad categories) and general wellbeing trends.
Reports will never include names, email addresses, chat content or individual behaviour or disclosures.
AutiPocket acts as the data controller for employee data within the app. Employers are not data controllers for employee use of AutiPocket. Employers cannot request access to personal user data.
Safeguarding exceptions
As outlined elsewhere in this policy, information may only be shared outside AutiPocket where required to protect life or comply with the law.
